We all know that if you live in a Cooperative Apartment many decisions and enforcement of the rules and regulations are conducted by the Board of Directors. The New York Times article Discusses this. Generally, the Board may adopt rules and regulations which are voted on by the members of the Co Op. Today with modern technology photographs are taken to enter many large and small buildings. A drivers license is frequently scanned, the guests are presented with a "badge" often with their picture documenting who they are visiting. As a security precaution clearly documented photo identification of guests is a layer of protection and a deterring to unwanted persons in the Co-OP. However in residential buildings often a "buzzer" communication or door man communication will acknowledge that the resident has invited a guests into the building. Privacy is always desirable especially in ones home but today most Co -Op's and multi dwelling residences have extensive camera systems which record and store the comings and goings of residents, employees, visitors, guests, and service personnel. ( UPS, Plumber etc) So, you probably are in a premises in which photographs are being taken. Generally, it's a good thing for security, integrity of the premises and to document accidents/ injuries which may occur in and about the building. Like many aspects of our life privacy even in ones home privacy is not what it use to be and it has it's positive and negative components.
